We have seen lousy teams in MLB in recent seasons.
The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Detroit Tigers were awful before their current period of respectability in 2024.
The Baltimore Orioles were a mess from 2017 to 2021, and the Colorado Rockies have been bad for a while.
The 2024 Chicago White Sox, however, are one of the worst collections of talent in recent memory.
We all knew before the season started that they just weren’t going to win many games, but boy, it has been ugly at times.
They currently have the worst record in baseball at 15-48, and the situation and the losing are getting out of hand, as MLB insider Bob Nightengale notes.
“That’s 14 losses in a row for the White Sox. New franchise record. The all-time record is 23 consecutive losses by the 1961 Phillies,” he tweeted.
14 consecutive losses is a stain on every and any franchise in professional sports.
You can lose one, two, or even seven straight games: everybody goes through rough stretches.
14 losses in a row shows a lack of talent, commitment, seriousness, and drive.
If we go back a bit further, the White Sox have lost 18 of their last 19 games.
It’s one thing to go through a rebuild, but fans also deserve respect and White Sox supporters definitely aren’t being shown any.
This is one of MLB’s historic, most traditional franchises, playing in a large market with a considerable number of fans.
What they have done with the franchise is both ridiculous and sad.
