The future of veteran quarterback Russell Wilson will be one of the most interesting talking points this upcoming offseason.
Wilson will likely be released by the Denver Broncos – his current team – after two mediocre years that ended with him being benched late in the 2023 season because he refused to restructure his current contract.
It’s unclear where he could land next, but ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler wrote that he believes the Las Vegas Raiders could bring Wilson in as their starting quarterback after failing with Jimmy Garoppolo and rookie Aiden O’Connell this past year.
“[The Raiders] need a vet, and they are one of Wilson’s original teams he wanted to go to [in 2021],” an NFL executive told Fowler, via Dov Kleiman.

The aforementioned points make a lot of sense, and the Raiders were one of the four teams Wilson’s agent told ESPN’s Adam Schefter the quarterback would be willing to play for before he was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Broncos in 2021 (the others were the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, and Chicago Bears).
Wilson would have a top-flight wide receiver in Davante Adams as well as a quality defense with a player-first head coach in Antonio Pierce.
The pairing could work, but it remains to be seen how the two sides would come together – either through a trade or in free agency.
For now, Wilson remains a Bronco and is at the mercy of that organization until they make a final decision on his future with the team.
