The Green Bay Packers have their quarterback of the future in Jordan Love who showed out as a full-time starter during the 2023 NFL season.

Love took over the reins after the Packers traded away Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets and reaffirmed their faith in him as he led the team to the 2024 NFL Playoffs.

Love orchestrated an upset over the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round and nearly got them over the hump against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round.

Now, Love looks set to take the next step in his development and rise up the quarterback ranks in the NFL.

Given his age, talent and experience, Love is in line for a massive contract extension and should get paid sooner rather than later.

However, it sounds like he and Green Bay haven’t made much progress on a deal just yet via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

“The Packers and Love have had some discussions,” Fowler said. “I’m told the vibes right now are positive, but there hasn’t been a lot of production as far as getting close to a deal. It’s going to take a little time.”

As Fowler noted, teams will reconvene at a later date to hammer out details and by all accounts, it seems like an extension will get done.

The price tag might end up shocking people, but that’s the reality of the NFL as the salary cap rises year after year.

For now, Love will have to be patient though he’ll eventually get the money that he deserves.
