After starting the season 2-4, the New York Jets gave themselves a possible shot in the arm by trading for wide receiver Davante Adams.
Adams previously had a long stint alongside Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers, and he should strengthen their chances of getting back into the race for an AFC playoff spot.
There are now rumors that after adding Adams the team is looking to trade wideout Mike Williams, and Rich Cimini of ESPN reported that he “wouldn’t be surprised if the Jets are working with Williams to find him a new team” after the veteran sat out back-to-back practices for personal reasons.
Mike Williams present, but did not practice. No word from the team. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Jets are working with Williams to find him a new team. Trading deadline: Nov. 5. #Jets pic.com/2dxr1qIYCk

Williams was signed by New York this offseason to provide some support alongside Garrett Wilson, its main threat in the passing game.
At 6-foot-4, Williams had been a solid red zone threat in his time with the Los Angeles Chargers, scoring 31 touchdowns over seven seasons before tearing his ACL in 2023.
But through six games with the Jets, Williams made just 10 catches and posted 145 yards without any touchdowns.
Allen Lazard, another wideout who used to play with Rodgers in Green Bay, has emerged as New York’s WR2 with 26 catches, 354 yards and five touchdowns.
In Week 7, the Jets visit the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team that is 4-2 but will switch to Russell Wilson instead of Justin Fields as their starting quarterback.
With a contest against the New England Patriots in Week 8, a win against the Steelers would be a statement that the Jets may remain in the fight to the end for a playoff spot.
