The San Francisco 49ers may have come up short in the Super Bowl again, but they’ve got the talent and pieces to make another run at a title in 2024.

Although the 49ers have some questions to answer, namely the future of Brandon Aiyuk who is due for an extension and hasn’t been shy about demanding top-tier money, the team is set up to compete for years to come.

Making it all possible is the rise of Brock Purdy, who has emerged as the clear-cut quarterback of the future for head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Purdy was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2023 and showed visible improvements under center, nailing timely throws and keeping the offense on schedule.

Behind an excellent running game and defense, Purdy often gets labeled a game-manager but he’s shown he can do more as he led the team to come-from-behind wins in the postseason.

Purdy might not be the biggest quarterback name in the league, but the next era of 49ers football begins with him, per Tim Kawakami of The Athletic.

“Welcome to the new era of San Francisco 49ers football. One that revolves around Brock Purdy,” Kawakami wrote.

San Francisco seemed to address the future of the team in the draft by selecting players like Ricky Pearsall and Renardo Green who are logical successors to Deebo Samuel and Charvarius Ward.

Purdy is young and talented enough to be the starting quarterback for years to come and San Francisco would be wise to continue building the roster around him.
