The Los Angeles Dodgers have one of the largest contingents of players on the injured list.

Some of the names include Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin, Kyle Hurt, Bobby Miller, and Jason Heyward, among many others.

Unfortunately, another pitcher has joined them: it’s reliever Ryan Brasier.

According to Dodgers insider Fabian Ardaya, he recently injured his calf while warming up.

Brasier has been diagnosed with a right calf strain.

The injury is among the trickiest in baseball: the player and the team should both make sure he is completely over it because there is significant re-aggravation risk.

These injuries typically require multiple weeks, but the Dodgers are hopeful Brasier won’t take much more than the two weeks that his injured list placement suggest.

The right-hander wasn’t having his finest season, with a 4.68 ERA and a 12/2 K/BB ratio over 11.2 innings and 12 games.

However, he is capable of performing much, much better than that.

For example, in a 38.2-inning sample last year with the Dodgers, he posted an impressive 0.70 ERA.

Gus Varland has been called up to take Brasier’s place in the bullpen.

Even with the high number of injuries on the pitching side, the Dodgers hurlers are doing a good job with a 3.66 collective ERA.

That’s good enough for 10th in the league.

Considering the circumstances, it’s a very good number.

With Brasier fully healthy, it could be even better.

We will have to wait a couple of weeks for that, though.
