Insider Reveals How Broncos Will Use Russell Wilson For Rest Of Season

The Denver Broncos have made a tough call.

Even though they still have a chance to make the playoffs — albeit a slim one — they chose to demote Russell Wilson to QB2.

That decision was prompted by the financial implications that a potential injury could have, as they could save some money by just cutting him in the offseason, but they would be on the hook for $37 more million if he were to get hurt.

However, as much as that led to speculation about his future with the organization, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported that the team has no intention whatsoever of cutting ties with him right now, and they’ll still have him dressed and active behind Jarred Stidham.

The Broncos obviously hoped that Wilson would be their quarterback for years to come, but his future with the organization seems cloudy at best.

Signing him to a big contract extension without watching him play a single snap for the organization backfired badly for this team, not to mention the fact that they had to give up a plethora of draft assets to pull the deal off.

Wilson isn’t the only one to blame for the team’s shortcomings, and he did fare much better in his second season with the organization.

But he doesn’t seem to be in Sean Payton’s plans for the future, and while he still deserves plenty of respect for what he accomplished during his prime, his playing days might be over, at least as a starter.
