With a new ownership group spearheading the Washington Commanders, the organization could be set for a massive overhaul in the offseason.

The Commanders will miss the postseason again and that should prompt majority team owner Josh Harris to scour the market for candidates across all positions in the organization.

Reports have already surfaced that Washington will part ways with head coach Ron Rivera following the conclusion of the season, opening up speculation as to who will replace him.

One intriguing name to watch out for is New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick who is also reportedly going to be let go at the end of the regular season.

Belichick should have plenty of suitors should he become available, and the Commanders make sense as a landing spot.

However, there is one major snag that could complicate a potential Washignton-Belichick pairing via Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

“My sense is that new owner Josh Harris won’t hand the keys to the entire operation over to a single person. So if Belichick wants the power he has in New England (total power, which is tough for a coach to get these days), he might have to look elsewhere,” Breer reported.

With the Patriots, Belichick essentially had unilateral control on coaching and personnel, but that level of power is only granted to a select few in the league.

Harris seems intent on implementing a traditional general manager-head coach structure, so if Belichick is indeed looking to keep the same role then the Commanders might be off his list.

It’ll be interesting to see where the legendary coach ends up as there are several teams that could use his services.
