The next era of New England Patriots football is nearly here as head coach Jerod Mayo and the franchise can reset the direction of the franchise during the 2024 NFL Draft.
After a dismal 2023 NFL season where they finished with a 4-13 record, the Patriots own the No. 3 overall pick in the draft.
New England has a glaring hole at quarterback but are in the fortunate position of being able to select one of the highly-touted prospects in this year’s class.
Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye and J.J. McCarthy are expected to be the first four quarterbacks taken off the board in some order, though Williams is widely considered a lock to go first overall.
Regardless of how the board falls, New England should be able to select a franchise signal caller that they can build around going forward.
As for how the team has the quarterbacks ranked, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN gave his opinion.
“I think New England— I believe is probably in this boat. That they have Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy in that order,” Fowler said.

Williams at number one is no surprise, though the debate does begin with Daniels versus Maye as to who should be the second quarterback taken.
Maye was the popular pick to go second to the Washington Commanders for most of the offseason, though there’s been more smoke about Daniels being the choice for them.
If so, the Patriots could end up with Maye falling into their lap, a pretty good outcome all things considered.
