The Philadelphia Eagles may not end up being very active in this year’s NFL Draft, but they did make a notable move with minutes to go before it opened for business.

Earlier this month, they gave wide receiver DeVonta Smith a generous three-year contract extension, and now, they have done the same for his main running mate.

Per Ian Rapoport, A.J. Brown has landed a three-year extension worth $96 million.

Brown was only a second-round pick five years ago, even though his last two seasons at the University of Mississippi were productive ones.

He started his pro career with the Tennessee Titans, and as a rookie, he caught 52 passes for 1,051 yards and eight touchdowns while helping them unexpectedly reach the AFC Championship Game.

Brown made the Pro Bowl the following year, and during the 2022 draft, he was sent to the Eagles.

He turned out to be the player who elevated Philly from an upstart, borderline-playoff team to a legitimate contender.

He greatly improved his production in 2022 and helped quarterback Jalen Hurts become a true star, and he helped the Eagles reach the Super Bowl, where they came to the brink of winning it all before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In both of the last two seasons, he has exceeded 1,450 receiving yards and has been named to the Pro Bowl.

While the Eagles fell apart down the stretch of last season, they still possess tremendous talent, and Brown’s job should be a little easier this fall with the addition of star running back Saquon Barkley.
