At one point in time, former Ohio State star Chase Young was considered to be one of the most promising young defensive ends in the NFL with a bright future ahead on the professional level.

Unfortunately for Young, after winning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, the injuries started to pile up while playing for the Washington Commanders, as he couldn’t stay healthy and began to see a potential Hall-of-Fame-caliber career slip away.

Ultimately, the Commanders decided to move on from the former No. 2 overall pick from the 2020 NFL Draft, as he wasn’t worth the risk anymore, especially with the team wanting to start from scratch while under new ownership with Josh Harris and his ownership group buying the team from Daniel Snyder.

After being traded to the San Francisco 49ers and playing nine games for the eventual NFC champions, Young hit NFL free agency this offseason and secured a deal with the New Orleans Saints, giving him another chance at a fresh start.

However, a neck issue needed to be addressed with offseason surgery, which seems to have produced positive results, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Although the Saints were obviously concerned when they learned that Young needed neck surgery, it seems as though he will be ready to go when training camp gets underway next month, which is a great sign for him and the team.

The Saints hope to get back into the playoff picture next season after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the NFC South division crown last year.
