During the Detroit Pistons’ tough season, rookie Ausar Thompson opened up about his battle with a blood clot.
Thompson openly spoke about his experience during the end of season press conference, admitting that he noticed something was wrong before being diagnosed.
“I just didn’t feel right,” the rookie explained, recounting his initial symptoms. “The doctors ran some tests and we discovered it. Now, I’m focusing on my mental and physical recovery journey.”
“I’m taking things day by day,” Thompson shared, highlighting his approach to healing. “I know it’s a tough situation, but I believe I can overcome it. I’ve faced challenges before, so this is manageable.”
Thompson added, “The doctors haven’t given me much information about the long-term impact. I’m just concentrating on the present and looking forward to rejoining my team as soon as possible. I missed being out there for the last 20 games.”
In terms of his future, Thompson mentioned that he hasn’t received clear details about the lasting effects of his condition, but he is determined to focus on the present and getting back on the court with his team.
Before his health setback, Thompson displayed his skills and potential, averaging 8.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
