Inter Miami Reportedly Eyeing USMNT Midfielder Weston McKennie

Weston McKennie on Juventus future: "Hopefully we can work it out"

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, Weston McKennie may be headed to MLS this summer, with Inter Miami showing interest in acquiring the midfielder. The Herons, currently second in the Eastern Conference, are looking to strengthen their squad.

If the move happens, McKennie would join international stars Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez, and Jordi Alba in Florida. McKennie has one year left on his contract with Serie A side Juventus and has been linked with a potential exit from the club. Last summer, Aston Villa was among the clubs interested in McKennie, but no deal was agreed upon.

The 25-year-old midfielder had a successful season with Juventus, winning the Coppa Italia and securing a top-four finish in Serie A. McKennie provided 10 assists in 38 appearances, playing nearly 3,000 minutes. The departure of Juventus’ manager Massimiliano Allegri has opened the possibility for McKennie to leave the club.

After his recent international duty with the USMNT, McKennie is currently on break. The national team had a disappointing group stage exit from the Copa America, losing two out of three matches on home soil.
