Inter Milan Advances Interest in Guglielmo Vicario
Inter Milan is intensifying its efforts to sign Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who has emerged as a top candidate to be the club’s long-term starting goalkeeper.
The Nerazzurri are actively seeking a replacement for veteran goalie Yann Sommer, who is anticipated to become a backup as the 2026/27 season approaches, given his age of 37.
As per reports from CalcioMercato.it, Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio has been tracking Vicario diligently and is poised to outmaneuver rival teams for his acquisition.
Vicario’s valuation ranges from €15 million to €20 million (£12.5m–£17m), a fee that Inter considers reasonable for a goalkeeper who has demonstrated his abilities in the Premier League since his transfer from Empoli to Spurs in 2023.
Juventus Competes with Inter for Guglielmo Vicario
Inter faces competition from Juventus, who also view Vicario as a significant target this summer.
The Turin club aims to enhance competition for goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio and has reportedly initiated conversations with Vicario’s representatives.
With Tottenham currently struggling near the relegation zone, the 29-year-old may be open to returning to Serie A to bolster his chances of securing a spot on the Italian national team.
Tottenham Considers Sale of Vicario Amid De Zerbi’s Tactical Changes
Tottenham may consider allowing Vicario to leave this summer as part of a broader tactical redesign under newly appointed manager Roberto De Zerbi.
De Zerbi is expected to favour a playing style that emphasizes building from the back, thereby increasing the significance of a goalkeeper’s distribution capabilities.
While Vicario has excelled as a shot-stopper, his passing accuracy of 69% may raise doubts about his fit within De Zerbi’s scheme.
Consequently, Spurs are exploring other options, including Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen and Manchester City’s James Trafford.
Transferring Vicario could enable Tottenham to gain the financial resources necessary to target a goalkeeper who better aligns with De Zerbi’s aggressive, build-up-oriented philosophy.
