Investigation underway into altercation between Pat Beverley and Pacers fans

Beverley

The incident that happened between Bucks guard Patrick Beverley and Pacers fans during Game 6 is now under police investigation, NBA insider Shams Charania reports.

“Indianapolis Police is investigating the incident between Patrick Beverley and a fan during Game 6 of Bucks-Pacers series; detectives confirm to me and
@MikeVorkunov they are working with Gainbridge Fieldhouse to review video footage and plan to speak with the parties involved,” Charania said on X.

Police said in a news release that the case has been forwarded to detectives, “who are currently investigating this situation and take all accusations seriously.”

Those detectives will present the case to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office when investigation has concluded, the release confirmed.

In the fourth quarter of Milwaukee’s Game 6 loss to Indiana in the first round, Beverley aggressively threw a basketball toward twice Pacers fans who had seats behind the Bucks bench.

The fans had apparently been taunting Beverley for most of the game.

He addressed the incident on his podcast earlier in the week and claimed that the profanities the fans were yelling were well out of line.

“…It was more than, “Cancun on three,”‘ Beverley said. “Let’s just say it was more than that. I’ve been called a lot of stuff in this league, I haven’t been called that one. Still inexcusable, it doesn’t matter what was said. I have to be better and I will be better.”

As well as police, the NBA are also looking into the matter and a suspension for Beverley over the incident isn’t off the cards.

Beverley’s highlights for the day didn’t end there, since he told a respected ESPN journalist that she couldn’t ask him questions after the Bucks were eliminated because she wasn’t subscribed to his podcast.

No doubt they’ll be more to come on this.
