Ireland vs Austria – Davis Cup Tickets On Sale Thurs 14th December at 10.00

Irish Tennis fans are being encouraged to add Davis Cup Tickets to Santa lists this month as
tickets for the upcoming Davis Cup tie against Austria go on sale.

Tickets for the matches, which will be played on February 3rd and 4th at the UL Sport Arena,
will be available from Thursday December 14th at 10.00. And the timing, according to Tennis
Ireland CEO Kevin Quinn, makes them an ideal Christmas present:

‘I believe any Tennis fan in Ireland would be thrilled to find a pair of tickets for this clash in
their Christmas stocking’ he said. ‘They are great value, Limerick is a wonderful venue, and
the standard of Tennis will be fantastic. We’re all very proud of how the team has
performed in their last few matches and the prospect of seeing them compete against some
top class international players, is really exciting.’

The Austrian team will certainly provide Ireland with a tough challenge. Former World No 3
Dominic Thiem, is likely to be in their line up, while other players expected to travel include
Sebastian Ofner who is ranked 43 in the world, Jurij Rodionov who is ranked 111, and
Dennis Novak who is ranked 166.

Irish captain Conor Niland is looking forward to his players battling strongly in front of a
home crowd however:
‘I know there is a level of excitement building already in clubs around the country’ he said.
‘We are all very familiar with TV coverage of Wimbledon, but watching top class Tennis live,
is extra-special and it’s something Irish fans have been missing out on in recent years. So I
hope busloads of Tennis club members will travel to Limerick together and enjoy a great
weekend. Irish Tennis crowds are incredibly supportive and I am really looking forward to
hearing them lift the roof every time we hit a winner.’

Tickets, priced at €20 for adults and €10 for juniors (under 16) will go on sale on Thursday
December 14th at 10.00. Please check the Tennis Ireland website at www.tennisireland.ie or

Notes for Editors:
The Davis Cup is seen as the World Cup of tennis.
This match, the first home tie Ireland has hosted in 9 years, will take place on Saturday 3rd
and Sunday 4th February 2024. There will be two singles on Saturday 3rd, with a doubles
and two further singles being played on Sunday 4th. The winning team will progress to World
Group I.

Ireland has successfully progressed from World Group III into World Group II and now to the
World Group I playoffs through wins over Georgia, Barbados and most recently El Salvador
in September.

Limerick was the venue for previous Davis Cup success for Ireland. In 1989, the Irish team of
Peter Wright, Sean Molloy and Robert Dolan beat Senegal 4-1 in Limerick Lawn Tennis Club.
Tennis is Ireland’s 4th most popular sport and has welcomed many new players to its
growing all-island tennis community since COVID.
