Aleksander Isak Reflects on Newcastle Exit and Settlement with Liverpool
Liverpool forward Alexander Isak has revealed that he has had no communication with his former manager, Eddie Howe, since departing from Newcastle United. The player stated he prefers not to focus on the events surrounding his summer transfer, which he described as controversial.
Isak made headlines when he joined Liverpool on a British record transfer on deadline day, following a lengthy period of striking at Newcastle to facilitate his move. Despite facing backlash for his approach, the 26-year-old emphasizes the importance of moving on for everyone’s sake.
“It’s not something I want to dwell on anymore,” Isak told reporters in a conference held prior to Sweden’s World Cup qualifier against Switzerland. “It doesn’t serve anyone, neither me nor Newcastle, so let’s leave it in the past.”
When asked if he had reached out to Howe post-exit, Isak replied simply, “No.”
The Sweden international has recorded one goal and one assist in six matches for Liverpool, although his playing time has been carefully managed as he works towards regaining full match fitness.
Currently, Liverpool sits second in the Premier League, having faced three consecutive losses for the first time since 2023. Isak commented on the club’s struggles, stating, “I am working hard to elevate my game. It’s been a challenging stretch for us, but as our team improves and starts to gel better, I am confident it will also positively impact my performance.”
Regarding his experience in Liverpool, Isak expressed satisfaction, saying, “I’ve been truly happy here. The city has a great bond with the team, which is crucial. It has been a pleasant experience thus far.”
Looking towards Sweden’s upcoming matches, he remarked, “I’m ready to play a full match if called upon. It’s been a month of more playing time, and things have settled down. I feel much more prepared now compared to before.”
