J.J. Watt Praises Rookie QB for MVP-Caliber Performance on the Field

J.J. Watt knows a thing or two about quarterbacks, given the fact that he finished his NFL career with 114.5 sacks, so he spent plenty of time chasing them down.

He recently was very complimentary of the current rookie quarterback class and had especially high praise for one he believes is playing like an MVP.

“At this moment, Jayden Daniels is playing MVP-worthy football,” Watt said on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Watt added that the Washington Commanders star has done something no player in NFL history has ever done, posting a 75 percent completion percentage, 200 passing yards per game and 50 rushing yards per game over a seven-game span.

Though that makes Daniels MVP-worthy at this moment, Watt acknowledged it’s a long season, but even though the rookie is unlikely to win the award, he has a case given how well he and the Commanders offense have performed so far.

Nobody expected the Commanders to start 5-2 and lead the NFC East after seven weeks, and Daniels has looked exactly like the type of franchise-changing QB the team desperately needed.

Washington has a matchup against the Chicago Bears in Week 8 in what could be a battle of the No. 1 overall pick against the No. 2 overall pick if Daniels is able to recover from his rib injury in time to suit up.

Daniels left the Week 7 win against the Carolina Panthers early due to the injury and his status for this game is up in the air.
