Jabari Smith Jr. and Kris Dunn Suspended After Wild Fight

Jabari Smith Jr. and Kris Dunn have been suspended for fighting. Dunn was suspended for two games and Jabari for one after the two came to blows when the Houston Rockets played the Utah Jazz on Saturday.

NBA head of basketball operations Joe Dumars said in a statement on Sunday that Dunn had been disciplined for “initiating an altercation and throwing a punch” at Jabari Smith Jr., who was disciplined for engaging in the fight.

Dunn will lose $35,678 for the two-game suspension, while Smith will lose $53,601.

Both players threw punches, although none of them appeared to connect. They were subsequently assessed technical fouls and ejected in the Rockets’ 147-119 win over the Jazz.

The skirmish occurred when the pair got tangled up while the ball was being brought up the court. Players and officials came between them before the scuffle could get out of hand.

Dunn said the two “exchanged a couple words, a couple pushes and the next thing you know, we’re ejected.”

Dunn will serve his suspension on Monday and Wednesday when the Utah Jazz face the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs respectively.

Smith will sit out for the Houston Rockets’ game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night.

Smith is averaging 13.3 points and 8.5 rebounds on 45.2 percent shooting in his second year for the Rockets.

Dunn, an eight-year guard and former lottery pick, is putting up 5.3 points and 3.9 assists per game for the Jazz.
