Jabeur Struggling With Withdrawal Decision Amid Desire To Play In Dubai

Jabeur Struggling With Withdrawal Decision Amid Desire To Play In Dubai

Ons Jabeur has not been enjoying her best days on the WTA Tour recently but hopes to be fit for the Dubai Championships.

This season has been quite a disaster for the Tunisian, who is not playing good tennis but, on top of that, is also struggling with physical issues. The physical issues clearly impact her play, which is obvious by watching her.

It’s not a great time to struggle with health, but in reality, none is. It’s one of the most favorite parts of the season for Jabeur, who gets to play in front of fellow Arabs during the Middle Eastern stretch.

The last of those events is the Dubai Championships, where she hopes to play even though she’s not fully healthy. Speaking to the National, Jabeur confirmed that she’s trying everything to be ready for the event as she really doesn’t want to miss it.

“I
think it’s the worst decision you can take because my heart wants to
play and my body is not allowing me so much. I feel like I need to take the right decision and sometimes you have to take decisions where your heart is not agreeing with it.”

“But all I know is that I’m doing my best to be ready for this tournament and be ready to play here and compete in front of amazing fans.”

The comments by Jabeur don’t really indicate whether she will actually play at the WTA 1000 event or not. She’s in the draw and hasn’t withdrawn yet, which is in line with her plan to really play the event.

The issues are mostly related to her knee, so skipping would likely be smarter. Playing with a bad knee is never a good idea, but she will likely take a risk, and hopefully, it doesn’t turn out disastrous.
