Ons Jabeur and Madison Keys will play for a semi-final spot at the 2024 Madrid Open, as both are having a great run at the WTA 1000 event.
The fourth-round match between Coco Gauff and Keys was pretty interesting because the younger American demonstrated why many pundits so often discuss the improvements needed to her game.
It was a match that Gauff could have won, but Keys produced a sensational effort to beat her, and as a result, she made it to the last 8 in the Spanish capital.
Keys is playing solid tennis right now, and she will try to keep it going against Jabeur, who also plays solid tennis, which is really good to see. She’s been playing below her level this year, but a return to the place where she lifted one of the biggest trophies of her career seemingly helped her.
Head-to-head:
Jabeur and Keys have played two times so far, and both times, the Tunisian won the match. Neither of those matches was particularly close, and they weren’t recent either. The most recent match happened in 2022, so it’s been a while since then.
Keys hasn’t played much tennis lately but is looking solid in Madrid. Jabeur played more, but she didn’t play that much better, although she’s also playing really well at the moment.
Statistically, it makes sense that Keys struggles with Jabeur’s variety. The American likes a matchup such as Pegula where they can trade blows until one player misses. That’s not always the case with Jabeur.

Prediction:
I do think being the former champion in Madrid certainly helps Jabeur in this match. She was the better player last year and prefers the clay more.
Prediction: Ons Jabeur to win in three sets.
