Jadon Sancho set to reunite with Manchester United for pre-season preparations – Latest News on Man United Transfers

Erik ten Hag's handling of Jadon Sancho led to "fractures" in the Man United dressing room - Man United News And Transfer News

Apart from incomings, Manchester United need to sort out the futures of several stars who seemingly have no future at the club and at the forefront of that list lies Jadon Sancho.

The star winger had arrived in Manchester back in 2021 for a mammoth £73 million but underwhelmed in his debut season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He started strongly in his sophomore season under new manager Erik ten Hag but certain issues meant he was given time off by the Dutchman.

It was expected that the England international would finally show his worth in red in the 23/24 season. However, the manager was deeply disappointed with his training displays and called him out in public after the league game against Arsenal.

The 24-year-old reacted in the worst way possible, accusing the manager of making him a scapegoat on social media while his camp insinuated that the coach provided preferential treatment to certain recruits.

Sancho-EtH saga

Sancho was asked to apologise but he refused and was exiled from the first team. He was subsequently loaned out to former club Borussia Dortmund in January and helped them reach an unlikely Champions League final.

The Germans want to retain him but cannot hope to afford United’s asking price of £40 million. Juventus are the other side in the fray but are hoping for either a reduced asking price or the option of another loan deal, something United want to avoid.

The 20-time English league champions are said to be so desperate that INEOS have even offered his services to Premier League rivals like Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea but it is unlikely that a domestic sale will be sanctioned.

The Englishman has no future at Old Trafford now that INEOS have decided to keep Ten Hag at the helm and an exit seems the most likely outcome.

However, as per The Manchester Evening News, the forward is expected to be in attendance for pre-season training at Carrington come July 8 unless the Red Devils can find a permanent solution before then.

Pre-season training starts on Monday

“Manchester United expect Jadon Sancho to report for pre-season training on Monday.

“Sancho, 24, has not trained with the first team since he was banished from the squad by manager Erik ten Hag in September and it is unclear if he will participate in the senior squad’s sessions next week.”

Whether the player will agree to return and train under the manager after all the bad blood that ensued last season remains to be seen. Jason Wilcox, the new technical director, is a huge fan of the star, having worked with him during the pair’s time at Manchester City.

Sancho could go on strike to force through a move and not return to Manchester while the new co-owners will be desperately hoping to avoid further distractions by trying to agree a permanent solution to the problem. Mason Greenwood is another player in the same boat. United have quite the task on their hands.
