Jaguars Optimistic about Second-Year Player’s Significant Growth

Jaguars Believe One Player Will Show Drastic Improvement In Second Year

The Jacksonville Jaguars have plenty of weapons on offense around Pro Bowl quarterback Trevor Lawrence entering 2024 despite losing former All-Pro wide receiver Calvin Ridley to the rival Tennessee Titans.

Running back Travis Etienne is a 1,000-yard running back.

Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram has proven to be a reliable target for Lawrence.

1,000-yard wide receiver Christian Kirk, first-round receiver Brian Thomas Jr., and free agent signee Gabe Davis could form a really solid trio out wide too.

Another player who could make a big leap in his sophomore season is No. 2 running back Tank Bigsby.

Running backs coach Jerry Mack sees Bigsby greatly improving this year.

“I think now things are starting to slow down for him. He understands his role in the offense,” Mack recently told the Jacksonville media.

The former All-SEC performer at Auburn had just 132 rushing yards as a rookie last season.

However, he didn’t get much playing time considering Etienne was dominating all of the backfield touches.

But, the former third-round pick has a real chance to carve out a role for himself in 2024.

His 4.4 speed and solid frame (5-11, 210 pounds) allow him to either take on anybody in the hole or outrun defenders.

He won’t be the starter because of how consistent Etienne has been in recent years (2,133 rushing yards combined over the last two seasons), but he can provide some great depth if he improves with the opportunities that come.

Bigsby should be a name to watch for most Jaguars fans as the season inches closer.
