As the opening night of the 2024 NFL Draft nears, speculation and rumors reach a deafening crescendo. Here, we predict several first-round trades that completely change the outlook for multiple teams. Who will your team select in this latest 3-Round 2024 NFL Mock Draft?

2024 NFL Mock Draft | Round 1

1) Chicago Bears (From CAR): Caleb Williams, QB, USC

The Chicago Bears selecting Caleb Williams as the No. 1 overall pick now feels inevitable. As a result of their trade with the Carolina Panthers, the franchise lucked into one of the top quarterbacks we’ve seen in recent cycles.

An immediate upgrade to the QB play that Bears fans have had to endure, the former USC star could break franchise records as a rookie.

2) Washington Commanders: Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

The Commanders will pick a quarterback, and all the stars align in Jayden Daniels’ direction. Adam Schefter revealed that the selection was as good as “penciled in.”

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner will bring athleticism, intelligence, and dynamism to the Commanders’ offense, where Daniels can use his dangerous rushing ability and arm talent to be successful.

3) New England Patriots: Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina

The New England Patriots can’t pass up the potential of Drake Maye with the third overall pick.

Maye is just scratching the surface of what he can become. With his creative creation capacity as a thrower, nimble athleticism, and calm demeanor, Maye has all the tools to become the next great Patriots signal-caller. He will, however, need support around him if he is to succeed.

4) Minnesota Vikings (From ARI): J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan

Trade: The Vikings receive picks 4 and 138 in the 2024 NFL Draft; the Arizona Cardinals receive picks 11 and 23.

The Minnesota Vikings have already shown their hand by trading for the 23rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. It’s a pick that they can then package to move up for their future franchise QB.

Minnesota may be at the mercy of which QB is left after an early run, but J.J. McCarthy could be the prospect they fall in love with. McCarthy operates his offense with comfort, poise, and control while being a natural leader. He throws with power, accuracy, and anticipation and is a good enough athlete when the play breaks down.

During his career, McCarthy has never had to be Superman; he just needs to get the ball out on time and keep the offense in rhythm. That’s the perfect fit for the Vikings.

5) Los Angeles Chargers: Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame

Drafting for the Los Angeles Chargers is a conundrum. Do you go with your heart or your head?

Marvin Harrison Jr. is tough to pass up, but all the noise surrounding LA is that they want to build through the trenches, and Joe Alt is still a prospect worthy of being selected this highly.

At 6’9” and 321 pounds, Alt is one of the most polished and refined tackle prospects in the draft and one of the youngest. His hulking size, technical sophistication, and body control give him a massive floor while also being a muscular blocker with a powerful anchor.

6) New York Giants: Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State

This would be a home-run selection for the Giants and take minimal conversation or thinking. At 6’4” and 205 pounds, Marvin Harrison Jr. is a rare, elite prospect who checks all the boxes. He’s physically gifted and advanced beyond his years.

New York, turn the pick in, and don’t look back.

7) Arizona Cardinals (From TEN): Malik Nabers WR, LSU

Trade: The Cardinals receive the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft; the Tennessee Titans receive picks 11 (acquired from MIN) and 66.

We’ve played out this scenario before, but Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort has proved he can work the phones, and trading backup gets Arizona another blue-chip receiving prospect.

Malik Nabers has an extremely high ceiling. With the ball in his hands, he toys with defenders. At 6’0” and 195 pounds, the LSU receiver possesses unbelievable skill moves, fierce physicality, and individual creativity after the catch.

8) Jacksonville Jaguars (From ATL): Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

Trade: The Jaguars receive the No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft; the Atlanta Falcons receive picks 17, 48, and 116.

The Jacksonville Jaguars failed to retain the services of Calvin Ridley, and they have to do something to get more dynamic on offense outside of Christian Kirk. Gabe Davis and Zay Jones are good rotational pieces, but Jacksonville needs a true alpha.

Rome Odunze has great size-speed combo and is far more athletic than he’s given credit for at 6’3” and 212 pounds. A tall, bursty receiver, Odunze is an elite separator with explosive movement, savvy route running, and incredible body control.

9) Chicago Bears: Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama

The Bears grab an athletic pass rusher to pair with Montez Sweat on a roster that was already competitive down the stretch in 2023. Dallas Turner is an elite athlete who is relentless in pursuit, elusive in rushing from the edges, and has the flexibility and bend to tie offensive linemen in knots.

10) New York Jets: Troy Fautanu, OT, Washington

Troy Fautanu can slot in at any position on the New York Jets’ offensive line but likely slots in at guard to start the 2024 season. However, he has the versatility to be an insurance policy for potential injuries.

A technically sound and highly refined prospect offensive lineman, Fautanu plays with awareness, anticipation, and a natural understanding of leverage.

11) Tennessee Titans (From MIN via ARI): Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State

Taliese Fuaga would instantly become the starting right tackle in Tennessee. He has fantastic size and frame, paired with impressive lateral movement, to be a long-time NFL starter.

12) Buffalo Bills (From DEN): Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU

Trade: The Bills receive the 12th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft; the Denver Broncos receive picks 28 and 60 and Buffalo’s third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

With Stefon Diggs traded to the Houston Texans, the Buffalo Bills are desperate for wide receiver improvement. Brian Thomas Jr. will likely go much higher than expected, and the Bills will have to pay if they want to get one of the best WRs in the class.

Thomas is an elite athlete at 6’3” and 209 pounds while also running a 4.33 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. With smooth, fluid movement, clean hands, and exceptional ball tracking, Josh Allen will love throwing balls to the former LSU receiver.

13) Las Vegas Raiders: Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo

Quinyon Mitchell is a highly productive cornerback who oozes physicality, toughness, and athleticism. He has all the physical and mental tools to translate to the next level.

The Toledo CB is a throwing window eraser who plays with great vision, route recognition, and intelligence. Furthermore, Mitchell has thunderous power, natural twitch, and 4.33-second 40-yard dash speed.

14) New Orleans Saints: Olu Fashanu, OT, Penn State

The Saints need to get better and more secure on the offensive line, and Olu Fashanu can lock down a tackle position for years to come in New Orleans. At 6’6” and 312 pounds, the Penn State product is a highly coordinated, explosive prospect with active intelligence and a balanced anchor.

15) Indianapolis Colts: Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia

Colts GM Chris Ballard has strict measurables that need to be met, but he should make an exception for one of the best tight ends we’ve seen enter the NFL Draft in some time.

Brock Bowers is one of the top prospects in the draft and is the complete package. With powerful speed, refined route running, and slippery after-the-catch ability, Anthony Richardson can use Bowers as a comfort blanket.

16) Washington Commanders (From SEA): JC Latham, OT, Alabama

Trade: The Commanders receive the 16th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft; the Seahawks receive picks 36 and 40.

The Commanders have the draft capital to pair their new franchise quarterback with one of the draft’s top tackle prospects.

JC Latham, at 6’6” and 335 pounds, is an absolute unit who wins with pure strength and mass. He has enormous potential and is physically gifted. With punchy hand contact, significantly lower body power, and prototypical size, the NFL will fall in love with Latham.

17) Atlanta Falcons (From JAX): Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA

Laiatu Latu is the most polished pass rusher in the 2024 NFL Draft. He can be an immediate starter as a rookie and instantly become the Falcons’ go-to defensive playmaker.

A technical pass rusher with all the skill moves, assured tacking, and relentless pursuit, the productive UCLA standout has the on-field play and the right mentality to make plays in the NFL.

18) Cincinnati Bengals: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

Amarius Mims needs further development and refinement after only starting eight games in college. However, being able to sit behind Trent Brown to start the season before inevitably taking over the RT spot during his rookie campaign makes a ton of sense for the Cincinnati Bengals.

At 6’8” and 340 pounds, Mims combines alien size with elite athleticism — and he may have the highest ceiling of all tackles in this class. With great balance, body control, and effortless power, the Georgia OT has the tools to fall in love with.

19) Los Angeles Rams: Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State

Jared Verse is a highly productive pass rusher who will add explosive power, sideline-to-sideline speed, and violent burst to get after the passer. At 6’5” and 259 pounds, the former Florida State edge rusher has acute anticipation, impressive skill moves arsenal, and a merciless motor.

20) Pittsburgh Steelers: Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama

Terrion Arnold is the CB1 that the Pittsburgh Steelers need to find if they are to create a competitive team in 2024.

Coaches rave about Arnold’s leadership, and he has the disciplined coverage ability to succeed in press. At 6’0” and 189 pounds, Arnold has unnatural movement skills, impressive body control to compete, and the awareness and anticipation to find the football.

21) Miami Dolphins: Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma

Tyler Guyton is an agile athlete and powerful blocker at 6’6” and 319 pounds, but he’s extremely raw. With Terron Armstead struggling with injuries and having reportedly contemplated retirement, the Miami Dolphins need to find the future at the position.

Predominantly a right tackle, Guyton owns crude power, active footwork, and a balanced anchor to be developed.

22) Philadelphia Eagles: Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa

Cooper DeJean is coming off a leg injury in 2023. Yet, he has the talent to be selected much higher than this, and Howie Roseman can’t pass up a prospect as good as him here.

DeJean is 6’0”, 203 pounds, and is a versatile DB with elite athleticism. With fantastic speed, unnatural instincts, and incredible ball skills, the ball-hawking playmaker is an absolute steal at pick 22.

23) Arizona Cardinals (From CLE via MIN via HOU): Johnny Newton, DT, Illinois

The Cardinals need to continue drafting good players, and Johnny Newton is one of the best left on the board. At 6’2” and 304 pounds, the former Illinois DT is a physically imposing, playmaking pocket disruptor with continuous motor and undefendable skill moves.

24) Dallas Cowboys: Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas

The run on blue-chip offensive tackles has been gone in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft. If anything, this shows that the Cowboys may need to consider a trade-up to guarantee one of them.

Instead, they build out their receiver room by taking Adonai Mitchell, who has the size, speed, and explosive movement to thrive in Dallas. At 6’2” and 205 pounds, the former Texas and Georgia WR has lightning-quick footwork, clean hands, and a huge catch radius, allowing him to catch any ball thrown his way.

25) Las Vegas Raiders (From GB): Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington

Trade: The Raiders receive the 25th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft; the Green Bay Packers receive picks 44 and 112, plus a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

By signing Gardner Minshew, the Raiders don’t necessarily have to force the quarterback issue in the teens, but they could explore a trade back up into Round 1 to get the fifth-year option.

A powerful thrower with NFL arm talent, Michael Penix Jr. has the intelligence, anticipation, and experience to take over the job in Las Vegas and make it his own.

26) Tampa Bay Buccanneers: Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State

Chop Robinson is a freakish pass rusher with rare athleticism. That profile will intrigue teams, while his ability to use his athleticism to win, bend, and create leverage by getting under pads gives him a strong base.

However, Robinson is still raw and needs to refine his physical gifts while becoming more controlled.

27) Arizona Cardinals (From HOU): Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama

Kool-Aid McKinstry is an intelligent outside corner who plays with strong instincts and physicality. He has the skill set to be an instant NFL starter, but a Jones fracture discovered at the Combine has dented his hopes of being taken in the top 20.

Luckily, the Cardinals can take advantage of the former Alabama CB’s slide in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft.

At 5’11” and 199 pounds, McKinstry has the awareness and anticipation to react in the air and snag pass breakups over his shoulder. Furthermore, he’s sticky following routes and has mobile change-of-direction abilities.

28) Denver Broncos (From BUF): Bo Nix, QB, Oregon

The marriage of Bo Nix and Sean Payton just feels right. The former Oregon QB is the exact type of player under center that Denver’s head coach needs to direct his offense.

Nix is a conductor who gets all sections of his orchestra playing in tune and with rhythm. A pure play executor and leader, he manages an offense incredibly well and has consistent awareness, mechanics, and production.

29) Detroit Lions: Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas

The Detroit Lions don’t need an interior defensive lineman immediately, but Byron Murphy II’s value is too great to pass up in the latter portion of the first round. The former Texas DT’s placement in mock drafts is sporadic, although he does have the potential to be drafted in the top 15.

At 6’0 1/2” and 297 pounds, Murphy is an interior pocket disruptor. His high-energy play and unbelievable twitch and flexibility cause havoc through the middle, while he also has the explosive burst to win directly off the snap.

30) Baltimore Ravens: Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon

Troy Franklin is an imposing threat who can dominate on deep and intermediate routes. The Baltimore Ravens need to become more dynamic at wide receiver, and the former Oregon wideout has snappy routes, agile mobility, and flexibility to diversify their passing attack.

At just 6’2” and 176 pounds, Franklin has a lanky build, but he boasts impressive length to pluck the ball from anywhere while also having the speed to exploit space.

31) San Francisco 49ers: Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson

Nate Wiggins combines height, length, and speed to be one of the top cornerbacks in the 2024 class. However, at 6’1” and 173 pounds, Wiggins does have size concerns, which could cause him to fall down the board.

The former Clemson CB limits separation with his excellent athletic ability (demonstrated by his 4.28 40-yard dash) and has the twitchy flexibility to stick with shiftier receivers.

32) Kansas City Chiefs: Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

Keon Coleman is the perfect prospect to complement the existing WR room in Kansas City, which would thrive by creating space for Patrick Mahomes to exploit. The 6’3”, 213-pound receiver can pluck the ball from anywhere and has fantastic awareness and ball tracking to come down with any ball.
