Jakub Mensik cracked a milestone in Mallorca on Tuesday, becoming the youngest player to ever win a match at the event by knocking off defending champion Chris Eubanks, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. The 18-year-old cracked 12 aces to earn his 11th win of the season against seven losses.
It was the second career grass-court match of Mensik’s career.

It’s a tough loss for Eubanks, who drops 20 spots in the ATP live ranking to No.62 – the American will also have to defend 360 quarterfinal points next week at Wimbledon.
Mensik, currently ranked 85, had to pull out of Roland-Garros with a back injury. He’s had an impressive season on tour thus far in 2024, and reached his first ATP final in Doha in February, where he defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Andy Murray, Andrey Rublev and Gael Monfils to reach the final.
The Czech will turn 19 on September 1st.

Speaking of Monfils, the Frenchman moved through to the quarterfinals in Mallorca, with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Roberto Carballes Baena. He will face Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarterfinals in Mallorca. Mensik will face Fabio Fognini in the second round on Wednesday.
