Aston Villa has enjoyed a strong campaign thus far, but they are looking to bolster their squad in January to enhance their chances of finishing in the Champions League spots in the Premier League. Yet, navigating the transfer market could prove challenging.
Potential Exits as Transfer Window Approaches
According to sources, Aston Villa management is considering three players—Harvey Elliott, Jadon Sancho, and Ollie Watkins—as potential departures.
To create room for new signings, Villa will need to offload a couple of high earners, as their salary cap is limited. Both Elliott and Sancho, currently on loan, have underperformed at Villa Park, making them likely candidates for an exit. However, Watkins could also leave the club, primarily due to his lackluster performance this season.
Manchester United had shown interest in Watkins during the summer, and with Benjamin Sesko’s challenges since joining Old Trafford, they might renew their pursuit in January. Villa is open to selling, but would prefer to set their own conditions.
Which Players Should Villa Consider Moving?
Despite high expectations following his transfer from Liverpool, Elliott’s future at Aston Villa seems bleak, a situation mirrored with Sancho. In comparison, Watkins, whose recent form has been disappointing, might find it easier for the club officials to consider his exit.
