Jason Kelce may not be playing in the NFL anymore, but he’s staying close to the game, and he remains a beloved figure on the Philadelphia sports scene.
The future Hall of Fame Philadelphia Eagles center was in the City of Brotherly Love on Monday for his old team’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons as a member of ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” crew, and he was clearly jacked up for the occasion.
A video posted by NBC Sports Philadelphia showed Kelce taking part in a tailgate with fans prior to kickoff.
Kelce was considered arguably the best center in the NFL for much of his 13-year career, which was spent entirely with Philly.
He made the Pro Bowl seven times and the All-Pro First Team six times, and he was an integral member of the 2017 Eagles team that won the Super Bowl championship.
This year’s Eagles are coming off a relatively convincing win in Week 1 over the Green Bay Packers in Brazil, and they’re now back in the Delaware Valley for their 2024 home opener.
They have a new bag in star running back Saquon Barkley, and they hope to improve significantly on defense.
New additions on that side of the football include defensive end Bryce Huff, who had 10.0 sacks last season with the New York Jets, and rookie cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
A win over a revitalized Atlanta team would go a long way in proving Philly is past its late-season collapse last winter and on its way to contending for another Super Bowl appearance this season.
