Justin Fields’ future in the NFL can go one of two ways: Either the Chicago Bears will keep him and build around him this offseason or he’ll be traded away to restart his career elsewhere.
Both options remain on the table, but players and pundits have taken sides as to what the Bears should do ahead of the 2024 NFL draft.
Bears wideout D.J. Moore was one of the first to support his quarterback and now Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson told the “All Facts No Brakes” podcast this week that Chicago should surround Fields with more weapons to help him develop into a better quarterback rather than get rid of him.
“I think that he hasn’t had an opportunity to truly be developed yet,” Johnson said. “I think if you get some dogs around him, so O-line that can consistently hold up, some good receivers … We definitely need more, I feel like, as far as playmakers and guys to put him in the best position.”

The Bears are in an enviable position as well because they also have the No. 1 and 9 picks in the draft – meaning they could easily draft Fields’ replacement and even add another skill position player in the top-10.
Chicago could also keep Fields and trade the top pick for a boatload of capital and assets, much like they did in 2023 to get Moore from the Carolina Panthers alongside more draft selections which included what eventually became this year’s No. 1 pick.
Time is running out for a decision, though, as free agency and the draft approach soon after the Super Bowl when teams will start to make their 2024 plans.
