Jeff Stelling criticizes referee for not giving Manchester United player red card against Coventry City

Jeff Stelling slams referee's decision to not send Manchester United player off against Coventry City

Jeff Stelling, a pundit, believes that Manchester United’s goalkeeper should not have been on the pitch to help his team win the FA Cup semi-final. United initially took a 3-0 lead against Coventry City, but the Championship side made a remarkable comeback, scoring three goals in the final 25 minutes to level the score. However, a controversial offside call by VAR disallowed Coventry’s late goal in extra time, leading the game to penalties which Manchester United ultimately won with Andre Onana as the hero.

Stelling argues that Onana should have been sent off earlier in the game for time-wasting. The former Soccer Saturday host points out that Onana received a yellow card for deliberately delaying the restart and then further delayed play by drinking water behind the goal. Stelling stated in an interview with talkSPORT that if the referee had the courage, Onana should have received a second yellow card, resulting in a red card, during normal time for his actions.
