Jessica Pegula showed why she’s one of the most liked players in the locker room after the 2025 ATX Open in Austin.
Pegula is one of the best players on the WTA Tour. She proves that every time she steps onto the court. However, she’s also one of the best people away from the tennis courts.
Most recently, the American player competed at the 2025 ATX Open in Austin. She was the top seed at the event and steamrolled past all of her opponents.
Pegula won the title in Austin after beating Arantxa Rus, Nuria Parizas Diaz, Anna Blinkova, Ajla Tomljanovic, and McCartney Kessler. Like all of the players, the 31-year-old American had a plan to transfer to Indian Wells after her final in Austin.
Jessica Pegula, who is a daughter of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabers owner Terrence Pegula, who is worth $7 billion, had a private jet available for the transfer after her singles final. However, instead of immediately flying away from Austin, she did something that not many players would do.
The doubles final at the WTA 250 event in Austin was played after the singles final. Anna Blinkova and Yue Yuan beat McCartney Kessler and Shuai Zhang to lift the trophy.
Despite losing the final, Zhang had a reason to leave Austin with a smile on her face. She experienced Pegula’s generosity, which made her happy. The Chinese player shared what happened after the final matches on her Instagram profile.
Zhang revealed that the players were discussing how to get to Indian Wells after playing in Austin. It’s a challenging journey, and players considered many options.
“The final day girls discuss how to fly to Indian Wells. [There are] many different ways. Some leave from Austin, Houston, or Dallas, some might need to transfer in Los Angeles in the middle night, because [it’s] tough to get a flight after the doubles final.”
While the doubles players were considering all the possible options, Pegula already had a plan. She waited for the doubles players to finish their final and offered them to join her on her journey to Indian Wells.
“In the meantime Jessica Pegula offered everyone who played in the Sunday final to join her private jet. You know she can leave away right after her singles final, but she is such a selfless and generous girl. This message is not to show the jet. I just wanted to appreciate and transfer the love.”

This moment once again proves that even though Pegula comes from an extremely wealthy family, she is a good person at heart, something many of her colleagues would likely agree on.
