Jim Zorn? Joe Gibbs? Which Washington coach said it.

Jim Zorn? Joe Gibbs? Which Washington coach said it.

New Washington Commanders Coach Dan Quinn sounded a lot like his predecessor, Ron Rivera, at one point during his introductory news conference Monday at the team’s headquarters in Ashburn.

“You’ll hear me say often, ‘Be where your feet are,’” Quinn said, echoing a mantra Rivera repeated often throughout his four-year tenure.

Moments later, Quinn offered the quote of the afternoon, which has already inspired a T-shirt.

“There is nothing I enjoy more than doing hard s— with good people,” he said.

Here’s a list of introductory news conference quotes from the seven non-interim coaches hired before Quinn by former owner Daniel Snyder. How well can you remember or guess who said them?

Question 1 of 12

“They all got their gear all ready, and so they’re going to be all colored up in the maroon and black and yellow.”

Question 2 of 12

“I’ve never believed in rebuilding programs. I believe this football team is prepared to go out and win, and win now.”

Question 3 of 12

“You win with good people. If we can get the right players that have the right character — it starts with that — and the right smarts, and then that have the ability, which is what I feel like we had before, then we’ve got a good chance to win.”

Question 4 of 12

“I’ve got a playbook with me. We’ve got plenty of plays. That won’t be a problem.”

Question 5 of 12

“You’re not going to play for this team, you’re not going to work for this team if you don’t have the discipline and commitment to give us everything you have. No exceptions, no excuses.”

Question 6 of 12

“I’m sure there are some surprised people. I know I was surprised to get the opportunity, but I know how hard I’m going to work to earn everyone’s trust and confidence.”

Question 7 of 12

“It’s more than offense. It’s offense, defense and special teams. The teams that I have been on that have competed in those championship games had everything. You got to have the best from the top to the bottom. I’m going to go out and get the best coaches that I can find.”

Question 8 of 12

“I can’t make any guarantees, but we will be ready to play the Dallas Cowboys. And all I can say is I’ll try to do my best — to do my part, along with everybody else — to beat the Dallas Cowboys this coming season.”

Question 9 of 12

“I believe in me, and I will bet on me. We’ll see what happens. That’s all I can tell you. I will give you one thing: I will work. I will work very hard. I will do the things that I believe, and I will stay true to who I am.”

Question 10 of 12

“There is not a net, so I’m going to pray a lot! I’m hanging there, and there is nothing there to catch us. But that may be the biggest thrill — knowing how hard it is!”

Question 11 of 12

“All’s they want to do is win, and they’re going to provide me with every avenue to win. And I don’t know what happened last year and I don’t care what happened last year. All’s I care about is next year and moving forward.”

Question 12 of 12

“Once Dan and I had an opportunity to spend time together, we realized the things he believes in are the things I believe in … I’m a very passionate person, and I think Dan is as well.”
