JJ Redick To Conduct Formal Interview With Lakers; Top Candidate For Head Coaching Position

J.J. Redick Remains 'Viable Candidate' For Lakers Head Coach Opening Despite Dan Hurley Interest

JJ Redick is scheduled to meet with the Los Angeles Lakers this weekend for his first formal interview for the team’s head coaching job. He is considered the favorite for the position.

If the NBA Finals go to Game 5, it will not be played until Monday, allowing Redick to have the weekend to meet with the Lakers.

Rob Pelinka has maintained communication with Redick throughout the hiring process. It is anticipated that Redick will have an extensive meeting with Pelinka and Jeanie Buss, where he will have the opportunity to showcase why he is the right candidate to lead the Lakers. Emphasis will be placed on player development.

The Lakers had previously offered the head coaching role to Dan Hurley, who chose to remain at Connecticut instead.
