JJ Redick to Interview with Lakers and is Front-runner for Position

J.J. Redick Remains 'Viable Candidate' For Lakers Head Coach Opening Despite Dan Hurley Interest

JJ Redick is set to meet with the Los Angeles Lakers this weekend for his first formal interview for the open head coaching position. He is considered the favorite to be hired.

If the NBA Finals go to a Game 5, it won’t be played until Monday, allowing Redick the weekend to meet with the Lakers.

Throughout the process, Redick has maintained communication with Rob Pelinka. It is likely that Redick will have an extensive meeting with Pelinka and Jeanie Buss. This will give him the opportunity to showcase why he is the right choice to lead the Lakers, with a focus on player development.

Previously, the Lakers had offered the head coaching position to Dan Hurley, but he decided to remain at Connecticut.
