Joe Mazzulla: Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving Are Unstoppable

The Boston Celtics are gearing up to face the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, where they’ll confront the formidable duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla weighed in on the challenge of containing Doncic and Irving.

Mazzulla emphasized that stopping the star players isn’t feasible, but rather, the focus should be on defending them at a high level.

He stressed the importance of playing a complete game, recognizing the interconnectedness of every aspect of basketball.

“There is no ‘stopping’ them. There is defending them at a high level, and there’s playing a complete game because every part of the game is connected,” Mazzulla said.

In the playoffs, Doncic has been averaging 28.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game, showcasing his prowess as a versatile playmaker.

Irving has also been a force to be reckoned with, averaging 22.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game.
