Johnson Wagner replicates Bryson DeChambeau’s championship bunker shot.

Johnson Wagner re-creates Tyson DeChambeau’s winning bunker shot

PINEHURST, N.C. – Johnson Wagner continues to impress viewers on Golf Channel’s Live From show.

His segment on the show has been well-received, showcasing the crucial shot of the day. On Sunday, Wagner recreated Bryson DeChambeau’s shot from the 18th hole bunker during the 124th U.S. Open.

Wagner used a 50-degree wedge to demonstrate the difficulty of the shot executed by DeChambeau nearly flawlessly.

As he blasted out of the bunker, Wagner joked, “That clubhouse is looking at me, Brandel. Sit. Sit, sit.”

Subsequently, DeChambeau emerged holding the U.S. Open trophy and requested, “I want to see you hit one more.”

“What goes through your mind when you’re hitting a 50-yard bunker shot?” Wagner inquired.

DeChambeau explained his strategy, splashing the ball to 4 feet to set up the winning putt. “I was playing a huge explosion shot, chunk and run. If anything I was going to come up short,” he said, referring to it as “the greatest shot of my life.”

Wagner’s second attempt was splendid, stopping just a foot away from the hole.

“That’s perfect. You just needed me around,” DeChambeau remarked. “You did it better than me.”

“Player B is always better than Player A,” Wagner quipped.
