The Brooklyn Nets have appointed Jordi Fernández as their 24th head coach in franchise history, the team announced.
Fernández, who brings a wealth of experience to the role, has been serving as the associate head coach of the Sacramento Kings for the past two seasons.
During his tenure with the Kings, Fernández played a pivotal role in the team’s success, helping them secure the Pacific Division title and clinch a postseason berth last season.
Hailing from Badalona, Spain, Fernández has also made significant contributions on the international stage, serving as the head coach of Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team.
Under his leadership, Canada achieved a historic bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Prior to his time with the Kings, Fernández spent six seasons as an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets, where he played a key role in the team’s playoff appearances and deep postseason runs.
His coaching journey also includes successful stints in the NBA G League and coaching roles with various national teams, highlighting his versatility and expertise in basketball coaching.
