Jose Mourinho poised to assume role of technical director at Al-Qadisiyah – Latest Man United Transfer Update

Jose Mourinho close to becoming technical director at Al-Qadisiyah - Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, is reportedly close to a switch to Saudi Arabia.

The Portuguese coach was at Old Trafford for two and a half seasons, delivering the Carabao Cup and Europa League trophies between 2016-2018.

There was also a credible second-place finish in the 2017/2018 season.

However, as things tend to go with Mourinho, there was a falling out with players and the wheels fell off the wagon quite quickly in the autumn of 2018, ultimately leading to his sacking after a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

The “special one” then managed at Tottenham Hotspur and Roma, where he won the Europa Conference League in 2022 and came close to winning the Europa League last season.

Following poor form this season, he was sacked from Roma in January 2024 and has been linked to various coaching opportunities across Europe.

A few weeks ago, the 61-year-old was sensationally linked to a return to Old Trafford, but the club showed no interest in a reunion.

Recent reports suggest that Mourinho has an agreement with Fenerbahce presidential candidate, Aziz Yıldırım, to join the Turkish club if he wins the election.

However, Sportitalia now reports that Mourinho is close to becoming the new technical director of the Saudi club Al-Qadisiyah.

Although the move would be surprising, Mourinho has not expressed a readiness to leave coaching just yet.

In a statement earlier this year, he emphasized that he has a long career ahead and is not looking to retire anytime soon.

Therefore, while the financial offer and role change might attract Mourinho, it is unlikely that he would commit to a technical director position in the Middle East, especially at a club like Al-Qadisiyah, which has recently secured promotion to the Saudi Pro League.
