Josh Jacobs, Jerick McKinnon, and Zay Jones Impacting Week 16 Rankings

Josh Jacobs, Jerick McKinnon, and Zay Jones Impacting Week 16 Rankings

Jerick McKinnon, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

On their final drive of the first half in last week’s game against the New England Patriots, McKinnon took a reception for an eight-yard touchdown. On the play, he landed hard on his shoulder and had to go to the locker room early.

McKinnon had a big game against the Patriots, as he also threw a four-yard TD to rookie WR Rashee Rice on a trick play during the team’s second possession. However, he isn’t missing practice because of the shoulder injury but rather a groin injury. He has missed consecutive practices on Thursday and Friday, which is a good sign that he may not be able to play.

It isn’t all bad news for the Chiefs’ running backs, as No. 1 running back Isiah Pacheco sounds like he will be good to go. Pacheco missed the last two weeks because of a shoulder injury, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire is coming off a week that he had 101 total yards and a touchdown catch.

Right now, it feels like McKinnon isn’t going to be able to go in this one, but keep an eye the next 24 hours to make sure.

Zay Jones, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

Editor’s note: Jones was not at practice on Thursday.

Jones has been battling a hamstring injury, but that didn’t slow him down at all last week in Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens. In that game, he finished with five catches from eight targets for 59 yards.

With WR Christian Kirk out, he has become more involved in the offense. In his last three games, he has been targeted eight, 14, and eight times.

On Wednesday, Jacksonville’s head coach Doug Pederson said he was week-to-week, so that implies that Jones may not be able to go against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His status is still currently questionable, but it seems like Jones won’t be able to play in the game against the Buccaneers.

With it feeling like he may not be able to go, there may be more opportunities for WR Calvin Ridley and TE Evan Engram.
