Josh Sargent did not play in the U.S. men’s national team’s pre-Copa America friendlies, but he has been named to Gregg Berhalter’s roster for the upcoming tournament.
Sargent was part of the 26-player roster submitted to CONMEBOL by June 15. He missed the friendlies against Colombia and Brazil due to a foot injury sustained during his time with Norwich City.
If Sargent participates in the group stage, it will mark his first USMNT appearance since the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
LAFC midfielder Timothy Tillman, who made his USMNT debut in January, did not feature in the recent friendlies against Colombia and Brazil.
Key USMNT players like Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah, Weston McKennie, and Antonee Robinson are included in the roster. Pulisic scored against Brazil and played 135 minutes in the two matches.
Tim Weah, who scored against Colombia, is also in Berhalter’s final roster.
Joe Scally, Tim Ream, and Matt Turner impressed in the draw with Brazil, the first time the two countries tied in their 20 meetings.
The USMNT will start training camp on June 16 and begin group stage play on June 23 against Bolivia at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Panama and Uruguay are the other teams in Group C.
