Josh Sargent stays hot with fourth goal of 2024

2024 is turning out really well so far for U.S. men’s national team striker Josh Sargent.

Sargent scored his fourth league goal of the new year and his seventh overall in Norwich City’s 2-2 EFL Championship draw with QPR on Saturday. The American striker headed the Canaries back in front at Loftus Road Stadium in the second half before QPR equalized later to earn one point.

After Jack Colback and Kenny McLean traded goals in the first half, Sargent boosted David Wagner’s squad in front with a powerful header. Jack Stacey’s cross was finished off by Sargent for his second goal in back-to-back matches.

Michael Frey’s 77th minute equalizer though helped QPR walk away with one point on home soil.

Sargent finished the match with 66 minutes played while fellow USMNT teammate Reggie Cannon went the distance for QPR. Both players will be pushing for international involvement this March when Gregg Berhalter’s squad face Jamaica in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals.

Norwich City sits eighth in the league table and next hosts Watford on Tuesday.
