Tom Brady is about to embark on his second career when he makes his much-anticipated debut as a color commentator for an NFL game.

The legendary quarterback will be paired with play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt to call the Week 1 contest between the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys.

Former Patriots teammate Julian Edelman said Brady is preparing for his first broadcast the way he prepared for a game during his playing days and that the seven-time Super Bowl champion has a lot of knowledge to offer.

“It’s going to be really awesome to see how the greatest quarterback of all time views a play, what he sees when something happens, what he’s looking at pre-snap, post-snap, during the snap, and it’s going to be really exciting for the viewer,” Edelman said on “The Jim Rome Show.”

For viewers who not only want to enjoy football and root for their team but also want to know more about the technical aspects of the sport, who better to learn from than Brady?

He wasn’t the most athletic or mobile signal-caller, and he didn’t have the strongest arm, but he became arguably the best player of all time by dedicating himself to preparation.

According to Bleacher Report, Brady called 17 games last season along with Burkhardt as practice for his new gig this season.

Perhaps Brady will follow in the footsteps of Troy Aikman, Tony Romo and Cris Collinsworth as someone who was a successful player who became a longtime analyst.
