After 24 seasons of coaching the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick is not on the NFL sidelines this season. He is spending his time these days on various forms of media, such as the “ManningCast” alternate broadcast of “Monday Night Football” and select episodes of “The Pat McAfee Show.” But for months, many have been speculating that he will return to coaching as soon as next season, and they have been giving various guesses as to the team he may join.

Former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was asked by Colin Cowherd where Belichick could coach in 2025, and he said it would likely be somewhere in the Northeast, with the New York Giants being an intriguing choice if Brian Daboll were to leave.

Edelman said that the Giants likely hold a special place in Belichick’s heart since Belichick started to make his name with the franchise in 1979. He started out there as a special teams coach and defensive assistant, and it was there where he would eventually begin his relationship with Bill Parcells, who became their head coach in 1983. Those Giants teams would win Super Bowl championships in the 1986 and 1990 seasons, and Belichick was a key reason why, as he became their defensive coordinator in 1985. After some fruitless years as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, he became the Patriots’ head coach in 2000, the same year they had a rookie backup quarterback named Tom Brady. Belichick is third in all-time career wins by a head coach, and he trails Don Shula, the leader in that category, by 26 victories, which many have cited as a possible motivation for him to return to coaching.
