Anton Stach of Leeds United has received a call-up to join the German national team for the upcoming international fixtures.

The 27-year-old has shown promising performances for his club and is set to return to international duty after a four-year hiatus.

Manager Julian Nagelsmann indicated that the national team was in need of a defensive midfielder with a unique skill set, hence Stach’s opportunity to display his potential.

Nagelsmann Comments on Stach

Nagelsmann noted that Stach’s experience at Leeds, a club often viewed as underdogs in the Premier League, will serve him well as he steps into a more pressurized environment with the national team.

Nagelsmann commented (via Leeds Press): “We were looking for a No. 6 with a different profile. His evolution has taken him from a No. 6 to a No. 4 and now to a No. 8.

“Stach hasn’t had a proper chance to showcase his abilities with us so far. He’s at Leeds, which isn’t favored to win many matches in the Premier League, unlike players like Leon (Goretzka) at Bayern or Robert (Andrich) at Leverkusen. We’re eager to see what he can bring to our setup, considering this underdog mentality.”

“He was thrilled with the call-up, almost euphoric. It’s significant for him to feel valued. We’ll see if he can integrate and compete with the other players I’ve mentioned.”

Can Stach Make His Impact?

Nagelsmann’s remarks may provoke a mixed reaction from Leeds United supporters. Nevertheless, this represents a prime opportunity for Stach to assert himself with the German national team, potentially cementing his place in the World Cup squad with strong performances during the international window.

Stach made his move to Leeds from Hoffenheim at the beginning of the current season.
