Julian Placias, at 18 years old, became the third American player to sign with Belgian club Westerlo in recent years. He signed a three-year contract, with an option for 2028. Placias, a dual-national eligible to play for the United States or Argentina, joins Griffin Yow and Bryan Reynolds at Westerlo this season.
Placias recently played 10 games for USL team North Carolina FC, scoring two goals. Prior to that, he had seven appearances for LA Galaxy II in the MLS NEXT Pro league. Westerlo has one final preseason game before their league opener on July 28 against Cercle Brugge.
