The Minnesota Vikings may have lost Kirk Cousins in free agency, but they are showing just how frisky of a team they can be so far during the 2024 NFL season. The Vikings came away with an easy victory in Week 1 when they beat down the New York Giants, but they faced a much tougher test in Week 2 when they played host to the San Francisco 49ers.

San Francisco won their Week 1 game against the New York Jets in convincing fashion and were considered road favorites against Minnesota, but the latter showed their mettle and took an early lead on the back of Justin Jefferson. Jefferson is widely considered to be the best wide receiver in the league as he simply can’t be covered one on one in the open field. Sam Darnold and Jefferson showed their budding chemistry off a massive 97-yard touchdown, a big play that reinforced their lead.

Unfortunately, Jefferson was later hurt on a play and had to be helped off the field with an apparent leg injury via NFL on CBS.

Jefferson suffered the injury in the third quarter on a blocking play where he seemed to run into his teammate and also took a shot from Fred Warner. Jefferson spent some time on the ground in obvious pain before being helped off the field.

As of now, there are no new updates regarding Jefferson though it’s certainly concerning that he was struggling to get up on his own power.
