The Kansas City Chiefs revamped their receiving corps this past offseason to give Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid some more help and options in the passing game.

During the 2023 NFL season, the Chiefs offense suffered a dip in production because of the unreliability of some of the receivers, though that shouldn’t be an issue heading into the 2024 campaign.

Travis Kelce remains the featured target for Mahomes, but he’ll be joined by Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy.

The trio of receivers can unlock the rest of the field for Mahomes and Reid, while Kele can go back to operating as the safety blanket in the short and intermediate areas.

With all these players, Kadarius Toney is left without a clear role in the offense after a dismal year in 2023.

However, it appears that Kansas City could be looking to move Toney to running back as he was seen doing drills during camp via PJ Green of FOX4.

#Chiefs Kadarius Toney in running back drills.. this one, a speed option drill with Patrick Mahomes..,” Green reported.

Known for his shiftiness in the open field, it makes sense to see if Toney can carve out a role as a pseudo-running back option.

Injuries have sapped a lot of Toney’s athleticism, though he could still make an impact in certain packages.

Training camp is the perfect time to test out these sorts of positional moves, though the more likely scenario is Reid rolls with his current stable of running backs in Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
