Kane Calls for Composure After Bayern’s First Loss of the Season

Harry Kane emphasized the need for a calm approach following Bayern Munich’s initial defeat in all competitions this season, which came in the form of a 3-1 loss to Arsenal in the Champions League.

Arsenal’s impressive performance under Mikel Arteta saw them secure their fifth consecutive win in the Champions League, placing them three points ahead at the top of the table. Goals from Jurriën Timber, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Martinelli sealed the victory, while Bayer Munich’s lone goal came from teenager Lennart Karl.

Prior to this match, Bayern had not suffered a defeat in any competition, including a Champions League victory against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.

Despite the loss, Kane stated that Bayern would remain focused and not be derailed by this setback. “This is our first loss of the season, and we shouldn’t panic about it,” he told TNT Sports. “We will take lessons from this experience.” He acknowledged Arsenal’s strength in winning key duels and set pieces and expressed confidence in facing them again later in the tournament.

Kane noted that his team appeared to struggle with Arsenal’s high intensity, particularly in the second half of the match. “It was a tough contest, which we anticipated. The first half felt balanced, but in the second half, we lacked energy and lost too many battles,” he explained.

Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, celebrated the victory as a triumph over the “best team in Europe,” while Bayern’s coach Vincent Kompany urged caution regarding the accolades, suggesting it was premature to label any team as the best this early in the season. “These discussions often arise, but we are focused on progressing throughout the season and being at our best during crucial moments,” Kompany added.
