The Kansas City Chiefs have had an eventful offseason in more ways than one since winning their third Super Bowl in five years, and the front office is putting the finishing touches on the roster as they get set to embark on a journey to complete the NFL’s first-ever three-peat.
The team recently announced three roster moves ahead of training camp in an effort to fortify this offense around Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs recently announced a trio of roster moves, including releasing tight end Gerrit Prince and signing fellow tight end Izaiah Gathings while also announcing the activation of running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Prince joined the Chiefs last summer on the practice squad and saw his season cut short due to an injured foot, and he was recently seen at training camp still in a walking boot prior to being released.
Gathings appeared in three preseason games for the Chiefs last season before failing to make the final 53-man roster and also being relegated to practice squad duties and being released just two months ago.
He will have an uphill battle cracking the final roster once again with so much tight end depth already on the roster behind Travis Kelce.
Edwards-Helaire has seen his workload decrease each year since being drafted in the first round out of LSU in 2020 and averaged a career-low 3.2 yards per carry last season, but he’ll be back for his fifth season in KC as a backup to Isiah Pacheco.
CEH’s fifth-year option was not picked up this offseason, but he is back on a one-year deal anyway.
