One of the toughest things to see in the NFL is when a player goes down to injury, and it’s even tougher when it comes at the beginning of training camp.

This is exactly what happened to veteran Chiefs wide receiver Justin Watson recently.

A video has surfaced of Watson running a route at practice and catching a pass before going down awkwardly.

The Super Bowl champion would later be carted off the field.

It appears as though Watson injured his foot when he fell awkwardly.

In a year where every team is going to be gunning for the Chiefs as they look to be the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, the team is going to need every key piece available.

A three-time Super Bowl winner himself, Watson has been a solid role player for head coach Andy Reid and Co. since 2022 when he came over from Tampa Bay.

The former fifth-round pick is coming off his best season as a pro in 2023 with 27 receptions and 460 yards, along with three scores.

With the uncertainty surrounding young receiver Rashee Rice, who could be suspended for the first few games of the season after multiple off-the-field incidents that took place this offseason, the Chiefs can’t afford to lose many more pass-catchers.

Kansas City added former 1,000-yard receiver “Hollywood” Brown in free agency and speedster Xavier Worthy in the NFL Draft earlier this offseason, which are two significant moves.

But losing a familiar face in Watson is not exactly what the Chiefs need right now.
