Kawhi Leonard’s Candid Evaluation of New Teammates

Kawhi Leonard

Kawhi Leonard hasn’t been impressed by any of his Clippers teammates during training camp.

The Clippers’ 2024-25 roster will include new additions, such as Kris Dunn and Derrick Jones Jr., following Paul George’s departure.

The Clippers star expressed to reporters that no one has particularly stood out to him thus far.

Undoubtedly, Kawhi will play a crucial role in the team’s pursuit of a championship, but he must first fully recover from his knee injury.

When asked if he will return to the court before the Clippers’ season opener at the Inuit Dome against the Suns, he mentioned the buildup involved, especially given his current circumstances.

Leonard has dedicated the offseason and training camp to rehabilitating his surgically-repaired right knee.

“I feel good,” Leonard told ESPN. “Just been taking my time, getting stronger and preparing myself.

“… We’re proceeding cautiously, day by day, in order to get me back on the court. Once those discussions arise, we’ll determine the best approach for back-to-back games.”

Leonard has not been able to participate in a full NBA season since his ACL tear in the 2021-22 season.

While he aims to play in as many games as possible, his primary focus is winning a championship.

“This is what I strive for,” Leonard stated. “I aim to secure a championship, not just to play 82 games. I am focused on winning, even though playing as much as possible is expected of me. I attempt to do so. However, it hasn’t materialized in the last two postseasons, so we’ll see.”
